Gori Tere Pyaar Mein Review – An entertaining show

A romcom, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein entertains on and off. The story is about a shallow young man, Sriram, played by Imran Khan. Everything he does is for his selfish welfare giving little thought to other people’s interests. This is until he meets a girl named Dia played by Kareena Kapoor. She is a social worker and his complete opposite. Sriram falls for her but realizes that the only way he can win her over is by changing his attitude. Unable to do so he is not able to win her over completely and this part of the story is narrated by him in flashback at his own arranged wedding to his would be wife, Vasudha, played by Shraddha Kapoor who is in love with another man but is going to marry Sriram out of compulsion. She tries to tell him that he should refuse the proposal for her hand and also tells him that he should not let go off Dia but win her over as she is his only true love. Initially, he doesn’t listen to her but then eventually on the day of the marriage, he gets up from the mandap and runs away.

After the aforesaid incident the second chapter of the movie begins. Sriram pursues Dia to a remote village where she is stationed and where she is agitating against all odds for the construction of a proper bridge. At first he finds adjusting to the village life difficult, has to let go off his ego but starts working with Dia for the construction of the bridge for the villagers. Symbolically, the constructed bridge also stands for Sriram winning over Dia with his changed attitude.

What keeps the movie from losing steam is the effervescent acting of the two main lead actors, namely, Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor. By now despite the audience knowing what the ending will be, the final twist or two in the movie will keep it engaged.

The songs though not memorable are quite pleasing and will have you humming along. If you wish to have an entertaining evening with your beau, then Gori Tere Pyaar Mein might be a good option.
