To say that Bullett Raja is below average fare is an understatement. There is nothing of substance to it, and it is completely pointless. Raja Mishra played by Saif Ali Khan likes to spray bullets and kill people. His partner in crime, Jimmy Shergill, comes along, and they become close friends. Eventually, his partner is killed, and then Raja goes all out to seek revenge. Besides this, there is nothing much in the movie. Although, there is the love story of Saif and Sonakshi Sinha that is completely apart from the theme and was not needed at all. All the talented actors in the movie have wasted their talent on a meaningless script. There are some songs that will have you hum along, but the many action sequences are nothing to write home about.
What is lacking is proper character development. We know too little about the lead characters’ past lives. Why do they resort to such violence? It would have helped had the director given the viewer a peek into the lives of the protagonists. Instead, what we see is the duo spraying bullets on every tom, dick and harry for no reason. The first half prior to the intermission is particularly laborious, and the audience will find it hard to remain seated or avoid dozing off.
Another problem is that the viewer does not connect with the main hero, Raja, at any point. As a viewer, you do not feel the pain that Raja undergoes when he loses his partner. The dialogues are pretty banal, at times, they are even funny, and you can hear a chuckle from the audience.
There are numerous reasons why you can easily give this movie a miss. The aforementioned ones are just a few reasons why. It is sad that all the acting talent in the movie cannot save it from a complete disaster. Had the script been well-written, it would have been a watchable movie.
