Oh boy! Irrfan delivers another knockout performance in Madaari. Also, Vishesh Bansal does remarkably well in this heartwrenching, layman versus system movie. So, do these standout performances merit your time? We will see how good the movie is in other aspects as well in the Madaari film review.
Madaari Film Review – The Story
Nirmal, a common man, kidnaps the Home Minister’s son. He wants to settle an old score and thereby expose the flawed and corrupt system. A team, led by Jimmy Shergill, is on the trail of this man and thus begins a cat and mouse game. Irrfan, though, is always one step ahead. The audience is on tenterhooks as the story proceeds guessing who will win in the end.
Madaari Film Review – The Positives
Irrfan’s bravura performance will linger in your mind long after the end credits. He so beautifully portrays the pathos in his character that it will send chills down your spine. Having said that, Madaari is by no means all about Irrfan. Vishesh Bansal turns in a resounding performance. Playing the role of the Home Minister’s son, he gets into the skin of his character slowly but surely. But it is not all about acting; the screenplay is tight, not meandering too much so as to keep the audience hooked on to the proceedings. The dialogues are snappy and keep you interested.
Madaari Film Review – The Negatives
Not much here, apart from maybe the fact that Jimmy Shergill, who is in charge of tracking Irrfan’s character, is probably a notch below his best. Also, playing second fiddle to Irrfan is not easy. The other cast that includes Tushar Dalvi, Nitish Pandey, and others is all average and contributes marginally to the movie.
The Final Word
There is absolutely no doubt that Madaari is a must watch. Without giving away any spoilers, I will say that you can look forward to some strong performances and a moving story that is gripping at the same time.
