In a long-running series comes the next installment, Ice Age: Collision Course. I wouldn’t blame you if you were to think that this might be overdoing it a tad too much. I mean, how long can you carry on with a bunch of Ice Age characters? Ice Age: Collision Course film review tells you if it is worth your money.
Ice Age: Collision Course Film Review – The Story
Scrat has unintentionally triggered an asteroid that is hurtling full-throttle towards Earth. If Manny (voiced by Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo), Diego (Denis Leary) and the rest of the herd are to survive the asteroid, they have to come up with a plan and fast. Buck (Simon Pegg), the mad hatter weasel, has it all under control, or has he? Thrown in for good measure are whacky characters such as a high-strung llama (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and a free-spirited sloth (Jessie J) who has a crush on Sid.
Ice Age: Collision Course Fim Review – The Negatives
When Ice Age hit the screens back in 2002, it was the endearing characters that compelled us to watch it (maybe even a second time). Five movies in, the same characters seem stale having nothing new to offer. As the focus shifts time and again to Manny’s family soap opera with him playing a doting dad and being suspicious of the new guy in his daughter’s life, we know it is time for the producers of the franchise to lay it to rest.
Ice Age: Collision Course Film Review – The Positives
While the shenanigans on Earth take up much of the screen time, Scrat’s mishaps in outer space seem less dreary. Every time he comes on, it appears to lighten the proceedings. Just goes to show that one character with a little ingenuity can be more compelling than a bunch of them without much substance.
Final Word
Kids might still enjoy this one, although marginally. However, adults might do well to stay away. Probably if you are an Ice Age fan, you can wait for it to hit the small screen.
