There isn’t much that is wrong with Shaadi Ke Side Effects. It has a good story backed by a fine performance. The title of the movie says it all. The movie is about the effects of marriage on the life of a young man. At first everything seems fine in the marriage. However, the birth of a child makes their relationship complicated. Soon he starts craving for his bachelorhood. He begins telling lies and keeps away from home. This has negative ramifications on the marriage.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects is very relatable, and those who are married will find the incidents taken from their lives. It is this quality that makes the first half of the movie extremely watchable, though, the second half starts to drag a little bit. The second half of the movie could have been shorter, and this would have made it more interesting. Having said that, the movie as a whole is quite likeable.
What works well for the movie is that it has a perfect chemistry between the leading stars. Farhan Akhtar plays his character to perfection, and one can only admire his acting skills as one watches him act. Vidya Balan has performed remarkably too. She has once again proved that she is one of the finest actresses in Bollywood.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects has its funny moments, and the audience is sure to chuckle at them. There is a generous amount of drama too. The instances in the movie when Farhan and Vidya are shown bickering are quite engaging. As mentioned, the movie is very relatable, and this makes for an engrossing watch.
The supporting cast, including Ram Kapoor and Vir Das, has also played their parts extremely efficiently; However, the movie belongs to Farhan and Vidya who literally steal the show with their acting prowess.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects is highly recommended to all those who are unmarried as they will get a glimpse of what married life entails. It is a nice date movie too. Among the few movies that match up to the hype that is created before the movie is released, this one is certainly one of them.
