Interstellar Shines Brightly

Interstellar Movie Review

Set in the not-so-distant future, Interstellar depicts a blighted Earth that has almost run out of resources to sustain life. By this time, NASA has gone underground, and Professor Brand (Michael Caine) is working on a project that could be the only chance if humans have to survive. Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), an ex-NASA pilot, turned farmer, accidentally stumbles upon this secret NASA facility. Here, Professor Brand tries to convince him that he should journey to another galaxy via a wormhole and find if there are any habitable planets. Leaving behind his family is not easy for Cooper, who is hesitant at first but eventually agrees to take charge of the mission as it might be mankind’s only hope of survival.

Will Cooper succeed in his endeavor? As the ramifications of space travel unfold, you are sure to be overwhelmed by the visuals playing out before your eyes. While depicting remote planets and the black hole, Christopher Nolan had to keep everything believable, which was the greatest challenge, and to surmount it he has used all the tools available in his armory. As much as Interstellar relies on Science and behind-the-scenes wizardry, the most memorable moments are the result of some brilliant performances, notably from Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. The background score by Hans Zimmer is spot on and goes a long way in enhancing the movie’s overall impact.

As we voyage with Cooper and his team into distant space, Interstellar is an experience not to be missed. Even as discussions rage over how far the Science depicted in this near three-hour-long space odyssey is accurate, there are moviegoers who will just enjoy it. Christopher Nolan, who directs Interstellar, gives us an insight into how humankind might travel to, and colonize, exoplanets that have conditions similar to those on Earth.

In a short spell of a few weeks, there have been some outstanding releases like Kill the MessengerGone GirlNightcrawler, and Interstellar most certainly is one of them. It will leave many of you chatting away endlessly about its various aspects.

If you haven’t seen Interstellar as yet, I would strongly recommend that you do so. Even if you don’t understand all of it, watching it is sure to be a memorable experience.
