Hawaa Hawaai Movie Review

Inspirational is one word that comes to one’s mind after watching Hawaa Hawaai. Movies such as this come once in a while, and one must make sure to watch them. What is particularly alluring about such movies is their ability to encourage one to strive harder in whatever sphere of life one is aspiring to do well. And who better to inspire us than children. If a child can achieve great heights then each one of us can do so. One can find cinematic follies with Amole Gupte’s Hawaa Hawaai, however, a movie with a message so resounding as this must be pardoned a few irrationalities. Its sheer simplicity evokes a joy while watching it.

At its heart is the story of a slum dwelling kid, Arjun (Partho Gupte). He is like any other kid living in the slums of Mumbai. Deprived of a normal childhood, he is forced to work at a tea stall. He earns a meagre amount for an entire day’s hard work. At night, he sees the roller skaters come and light up the area. The roller skates immediately catch Arjun’s fancy. He wants to learn to roller skate at any cost.

His four close friends make a roller skate from scrap for him. With his enthusiasm and the roller skates on, Arjun impresses the instructor. The instructor goes all out to train Arjun to be a top-level roller skater. Will Arjun overcome the hurdles faced by him and become an ace roller skater? Well, to find out the answer to that, one will have to watch Hawaa Hawaai.

Amole Gupte’s direction is top-notch. Playing the role of Arjun, Partho Gupte is outstanding. The audience will be able to empathize with Arjun easily. The viewer is drawn into the movie slowly but surely. Saqib Saleem has played Partho’s instructor in the movie with the right amount of enthusiasm and passion for roller skating. Makrand Deshpande plays Partho’s father, who is an inspiration for Partho. The four friends of Partho in the movie are adorable. If one wants to spend an evening watching a quality movie that also inspires then Hawaa Hawaai is definitely it.
