Bareilly Ki Barfi Film Review – The Trio Makes You Laugh

Among the various reasons to watch Bareilly Ki Barfi is Rajkummar Rao’s stellar performance. In the Bareilly Ki Barfi film review, we look at why it might not be a bad idea to drop by your nearest cinema hall to check it out.

Bareilly Ki Barfi Film Review

As free-spirited Bitti Mishra comes across a book, Bareilly Ki Barfi, she realizes that it mirrors her life. Eager to meet its writer, she gets in touch with Chirag Dubey, the publisher, only to find out that the writer, Pritam Vidrohi, has left town long ago. However, it’s Chirag, a lovelorn man, who has, in fact, penned its story. Bitti starts communicating with the writer of the book via letters. Chirag replies to her letters. When Bitti wants to meet the writer, Chirag gets in touch with Vidrohi, in whose name the book is.

By this time, Chirag has fallen for Bitti, and he instructs Vidrohi to act such that Bitti will dislike him. Initially, his ploy seems to pay off. However, as time goes by, Bitti falls for Vidrohi. Will Chirag be able to salvage his love for Bitti? The love triangle plays out predictably. Nevertheless, it has its humorous moments to keep you engaged.

Although the introduction of Rajkummar Rao to the proceedings livens things up considerably, Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon manage to hold forte reasonably on their own as well. It is not an entirely cliched-ridden plot, and some spunky acting from them manages to keep things moving at a brisk pace. A splatter of funny dialogues throughout the movie, with most of them hitting their mark, Bareilly Ki Barfi keeps you entertained. By and large, the supporting cast does a decent job as well.

Kriti Sanon fans will be glad to see her in a role that suits her, as she ably imbibes the essence of a forward-thinking rural girl, Bitti. Ayushmann Khurrana once again gives a subtle performance exhibiting a range of emotions, although in this film he is somewhat overshadowed by the incredibly talented Rajkummar Rao. As a writer turned salesman, he plays his reticent character with astonishing dexterity, and his performance is the cornerstone of this film.

Bareilly Ki Barfi isn’t one of those movies that you will remember long after exiting the theater as it isn’t anything spectacular. However, it doesn’t claim to be that either. It is just two hours of light-hearted entertainment, and that’s about it. If you are looking for a fun-filled film that entertains you for a couple of hours, then Bareilly Ki Barfi might be just right for you.
