R… Rajkumar Review – Mindless Fare

Rating:

R… Rajkumar is a masala entertainer, although not without its flaws. The story is of a young man, Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor), who works for an opium dealer, Shivraj (Sonu Sood), but the girl, Chanda (Sonakshi Sinha), who he loves is going to be married to this dealer. Obviously, there is a lot of action in the movie and some of it is pretty good. The songs are hummable. Some of the scenes are quite humorous and will surely draw out a chuckle or two from the audience.

The dialogues though overall satisfactory are at times a bit shallow. The story stretches out in the first half of the movie. There are unnecessary scenes that are inserted in the first half which make the goings on pretty sluggish. Some of the scenes that are meant to be funny may not impress all equally.

In the second half the pace picks up and it makes for some interesting viewing. There are some twists and turns in the second half that the viewers may not be able to predict. However, the movie tests your patience when taken in its entirety. Since it is directed by Prabhu Deva, the movie has a lot of well-choreographed dance sequences that will appeal to the audiences. There are some lengthy fight sequences that will keep you engrossed if you like action movies.

There is a bit of everything in the movie and that it why it is a complete entertainer. However, as with most Bollywood movies, you have to leave your thoughts behind. It is a mindless fare that will entertain you in some parts only.

In the acting department, both the lead actors, namely, Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha have given a fine performance. Sonu Sood as the opium dealer is quite effective in his role. Asrani is sure to bring a smile to your face. Ashish Vidyarthi and Mukul Dev have played their parts effectively.

If you don’t mind watching mindless fare then you might like this movie. However, those who prefer to stick to a believable story should keep a distance from R… Rajkumar. By the way, the R in R… Rajkumar is revealed in the movie. So, till you watch the movie keep guessing what it might stand for.
