Boss Review – A Definite No-No

Rating:

Boss is a no-brainer. Akshay Kumar is separated from his younger brother Shiv (Shiv Pandit) due to a misunderstanding on their dad’s (Mithun Chakraborty) part. Akshay then takes on the name of ‘Boss’ given by Big Boss (Danny Denzongpa) who is his guardian. Together they bash up the bad guys and bring them to justice.

The only problem is that the movie does not make any sense. It is completely devoid of a proper screenplay. The songs are mediocre at best. Nothing works out in the movie. Akshay’s fans will be thoroughly disappointed as he tries to save his brother from a bad cop (Ronit Roy) who frames him in a rape charge who is eventually rescued by Boss.

There is not much that Aditi Rao Hydari or Shiv Pandit can do given the scope of their roles. Most of the artists seem to be wasted in the movie. Akshay has a string of flop movies to his name now and it is high time that he comes up with a hit movie.

One can sleep through the first half of the movie. The second half is marginally better than the first half as it will not allow you to fall asleep. The plot is devoid of any twists and turns, and it is predictable for the most part. There are very few funny scenes in the movie that will really make you laugh. The action sequences are not very innovative either and even though they seem to offer something different occasionally, on the whole they are monotonous and will totally bore the viewer.

As a special Eid release, many people would have expected a better fare than this. Cinema is the only source of entertainment for the masses, and when such material is passed on to them for consumption, one can feel nothing but sorry for the masses. Even a commercial movie can make sense and at the same time entertain the masses. This movie does not do that at all. In the end all one can say about this movie is that it is better to take a stroll in the park rather than watch such lame fare.
