Blended Movie Review

A blind date goes awry for single parents Jim (Adam Sandler) and Lauren (Drew Barrymore). Both of them swear that they are never going to see each other again. But as fate would have it, the two families, Jim with his three daughters, Hilary (Bella Thorne), Espn (Emma Fuhrmann) and Lou (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Lauren with her two sons, Brendan (Braxton Beckham) and Tyler (Kyle Red Silverstein) meet again on an African vacation. Jim and Lauren start bonding and their children also start mixing well.

What follows is not something the viewer is going to see for the first time; nevertheless it is funny. Their host, Mfana (Abdoulaye Ngom), is hilarious. They also meet Ginger (Jessica Lowe) and Eddy (Kevin Nealon) along with Eddy’s son Jake (Zak Henri). The trio is a laugh riot. Then there is a singer, Nickens (Terry Crews), who keeps entertaining everyone whenever he comes on screen. All the characters are amusing, and will keep the audience hooked onto their seats.

There are many funny scenes like Hilary suddenly starting to dance when she see Jake, Lauren’s parachuting experience, and many more. Though the story has nothing new to offer, it keeps the viewer engaged. There are quite a few hilarious moments in the film for each one to pick their favorite ones.

The film also shows the importance of kids having both parents who can devote some of their time towards their kids. Though Blended is light-hearted humor and is never meant to be taken seriously. At some points during the film, the audience might feel that the story drags a bit. This though is only a minor glitch in an otherwise well executed film.

All the actors have played their parts extremely well. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore share a fine onscreen chemistry. The children are adorable and play an important part in the film. The rest of the supporting cast has done a good job too. None of the characters feels out of place in the story, and all the roles gel well with each other.

If you are looking to spend a fun evening with your family at the movies then Blended might just be the answer. Go for it, and you will not be disappointed.
